Went to a wedding in Charlotte, NC last weekend - that was fun. Lots and lots and lots of driving for a very short wedding of people I didn't know. I got to go with Daskolos though, so that made things much better - she was the maid of honor, so not going wasn't an option. If nothing else, the wedding was beautiful, and the caterer, Villa Antonio's Ristorante, was magnificent. Que Bella!
Aside from the extreme drive times, the only other real downside was the fact that this occurred over Mother's Day weekend and during graduation weekend for almost every college or university in North and South Carolina. Finding a hotel room at 1:00 in the morning when everything is booked solid sucks. Just so everyone knows, Microtels live up to their names - they're kind of like a weird cross between a college dorm room and a hospital room: tiny, and with that weird, itchy feeling.
Anyway, the drive back was pleasanter than the drive there, because we took the much longer but infinitely more scenic route, driving down the eternal Hwy 64, going through the mountains of North Carolina. We stopped off at Bridal Veil Falls, which is literally right next to the road, and then we stopped off at Dry Falls which proved to be anything but. They were both great. Thanks, Daskolos!
In other news, Haven sold a bunch of our overstock and backstock to some guy in Chicago last weekend for $4,500.00. That would have been cool, except that Jason left Josh Strickland, who self-admittedly knows very, very little about comics, in charge of the actual transfer of merchandise when the guy showed up to pick up the comics. The sale was for 20,000 comics, 14,000 of which we had in overstock in the back. Well, the schmuck cleaned out the bins too. It looks like we're going out of business, which ticked me off to no end when I saw that yesterday. You have got to be kidding me. He took, bare minimum, 3,500 more comics than he was supposed to take, somewhere closer to 5,000 in my opinion. We got gypped. So now, at my insistence, we've got to purchase a collection or two and restock the freaking bins. We have 0 Fantastic Four comics left in the store - yeah, a big fat zero. That kind of made me want to hit someone in the face with an elephant femur a couple dozen times. Stuff like that really torques me up.
More later, chums...

Stupid, stupid rat creatures!
You should have no trouble finding people willing to sell their collections to fill up the bins again, but the point is that you shouldn't have to. Even if you can re-fill the bins at rock-bottom prices, you're not really better off since you just emptied them at rock-bottom prices. I'm sure I'm covering no new ground here -- just voicing my own amazement at such audacious stupidity.Sorry about your store, Josh. I hope you can keep a handle on things.
